The Importance of Forgiveness for Patients in the Context of Hospital Chaplaincy
Opatrný Dominik, Hoštálková Marta
Forgiveness supports medical treatment, increases the quality of life of patients, and reduces their anxiety. This paper deals with certain specific aspects of the process of forgiving by patients. On one hand, it presents illness as an opportunity to forgive. On the other hand, it also points out the obstacles stemming from the illness. These obstacles may be easier to overcome with the help of a professional hospital chaplain, whose role in the proces of forgiving is discussed, as well as the ethical context of her activity.
